How do I switch to wearing standard earrings from 14 gauge ear piercing?

I've had my ears pierced for several years at 14 gauge, however, I've decided that I want to wear standard earrings in my bottom piercing, and am wondering how to do this? I've been wearing a hoop earring with captive bead in these ears since I was pierced, and I do have the special tool to open the hoops. I'm just uncertain how a standard size earring (like fashion earrings) will fit, and am worried it will be too loose or fall out.

1. Take the 14g out for about 2 days....then try putting regular ones in. Honestly the difference between an 18,16,and 14g isn't that great. You could probably put them in now and your ear elasticity would probably bounce back. It doesn't take long for your earholes to start shrinking though....I would leave them out for 2 or 3 days, see if that helps.
